FACTORY MODIFICATION CAMPAIGN – Headlight Does Not Work

Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in 2014 FZ09E (“FZ-09”) model motorcycles.

In affected motorcycles, the headlight lead wire can be stretched when the handlebars are turned fully to the left or right. This is due to insufficient length of the headlight lead wire. If this happens repeatedly, the headlight coupler may disconnect from the headlight bulb or the headlight lead wire may break near the coupler. If this happens, the headlight would malfunction, which could result in the possibility of a crash with injury or death.

To correct this problem:
Yamaha is initiating a Factory Modification Campaign. Affected units must have a headlight bulb sub-lead harness added to provide proper lead wire length.
