Ask any veteran of recreational snowmobiling and they’ll probably tell you they’re part of a snowmobile club. Why? There are lots of reasons to join one of the 110 snowmobile clubs throughout the state, some of which we’ve provided below. But if you need help finding the right snowmobile club, stop by Bright Power Sports to ask your fellow sledders what club they’re part of. This way, you can hear first hand what some of the perks of each club are. Visit our location in Lincoln Park, Michigan, near Detroit in Wayne County, and let us know how we can help you.

Sense of Community

If nothing else, joining a club can give you a community of people who share a passion for snowmobile riding. If you don’t have anyone in your family willing to join you, then making new friends can help you enjoy every ride. Not to mention, many clubs host their own events, independent of riding, including fundraisers, parades, picnics, and more. Some clubs even have annual planned trips to different riding areas to change things up a little bit.

Join on one of these trips, or grab the contact information of some of your fellow club members to set up meetings on the weekends. Depending on where they live, you guys might be able to check out different trails near one another's homes. You might just make a year-round friend, even when there’s no snow on the ground.

Financial Benefits

Joining a club can give you some financial benefits as well. Some offer things like discounts on trail passes, insurance, lodging, and other sled-related expenses. Odds are, you’ll also need to pay a fee of some sort, but the other financial benefits might be well worth it, especially if you spend lots of time on your snowmobile.

Lend a Helping Hand

Some snowmobile trails only exist thanks to these clubs. After all, trails can be expensive to open and maintain, and many property owners aren’t willing to shoulder that burden alone, even on public land. Your snowmobile club probably has a set of trails they maintain, and might also be working on opening up new trails. It can be a great source of pride to join in this effort and can make riding the trails all the more enjoyable, knowing you played your part in creating it.

If you’re interested in knowing how it all happens, it all starts by acquiring access to a particular piece of land. This can take some time, whether you’re looking at public or private property, but once you’ve got the land, the club creating the trail must go through and clear away brush, cut down low-hanging limbs, remove debris, and, in general, create the smooth base you’ll need. This also includes building bridges as needed, all of which requires time, effort, and money. But for the true snowmobile enthusiasts, it’s worth the hard work for the end result.

Ask your club how you can help, whether you have lots of free time or can only offer a few services. Even if you only have the time to attend a few meetings and pay the fee, you can still be a big help to the club. You might be able to bring some fresh new ideas or just a friendly new face to the club. And, those fees can help with the money aspect of creating and maintaining trails, so a little bit of help can go a long way.

Now all that’s left is to find the right snowmobile club to join. Or maybe you’re still looking for the right snowmobile for you. If that’s the case, then stop by Bright Power Sports and let one of our experienced staff show you what we have available right now. We welcome all those from Lincoln Park, Detroit, and all of Wayne County, Michigan.
